The NZZ photographer Dominic Nahr, photographer of the year, shares his experiences during a tour of the exhibition «Swiss Press Photo 2024» (in German).
NZZ photographer Dominic Nahr (*1983), who was honoured as «Swiss Press Photographer of the Year» in April 2024, is known for his impressive work in crisis areas. He has photographed in Ukraine, Morocco and Libya, among other places. During the tour, Nahr talks about his moving reportage trips and reveals the stories behind his award-winning images.
The focus lies on the following series of images:
His pictures from Ukraine, which show the faces and gazes of people scarred by war and won him first prize in the «Portrait» category.
His reportage on the devastating earthquake in Morocco, which claimed numerous victims in September 2023, was awarded first prize in the «Abroad» category.
Nahr has also made a name for himself with his work in Libya, where he documented the fragile situation and everyday life of the people in the aftermath of the civil war. He was awarded second prize in the «Abroad» category for his reportage on young militias and the aftermath of the conflict.
After the tour, there will be an opportunity to chat over drinks.
