The Fondation Louis Moret in Martigny presents a monographic exhibition of Zurich-based artist Małgorzata Stankiewicz (b. 1986, Poland), featuring several bodies of works that span the photographic work produced by the artist since 2016.
Multidisciplinary and experimental, Stankiewicz’ practice is rooted in an exploration of the reflexive possibilities of the medium, a search for convergences between content and form. The materiality of light-sensitive processes and supports plays a key role in her work and becomes an integral part of the final result, giving the photographic print a pictorial quality and uniqueness.
Presented together for the first time, the series “cry of an echo” (2016-2017), “Lassen” (2017-2019) and “viridescent, afire” (2018-2024) take on a political and environmental dimension, exploring the power relations between human beings and nature. The selected works resonate with each other inside the luminous, meditative space of the Fondation Louis Moret, with an aim to provoke a poetic and critical reflection on the consequences engendered by an anthropocentric vision of the world.
